Around Catalina with John OlguinThe boat is currently in dry dock for routine maintenance so ACS National's Around Catalina trip with John Olguin isn't going to be held in 2008. We anticipate offering the trip in 2009. The Orange County chapter's Around Catalina trip was held Sunday March 16, 2008. For more information, visit the ACS/OC Whale Watch trips page. The following information on the 2006 ACS National Around Catalina trip has been retained for reference. We hope to see you on the 2009 trip.
Around Catalina
This popular day cruise benefits both the American Cetacean Society and the Point Fermin Cetacean and Community Center. Treat yourself to an unforgettable experience and help us pay for insurance and upkeep on the building. Don't miss this rare opportunity to see the hidden side of Catalina Island, as well as a wide variety of marine mammals and sea birds! You can share in the fun and excitement of the best whale watching season in years by joining us on our 27th Annual Around Catalina with John Olguin cruise, Saturday March 25, 2006. In addition to the opportunity to see gray whales during their annual migration along the California coast, we may also see other species of whales, dolphins, porpoises, seals, sea lions, seabirds, fish, and other marine life.
American Cetacean Society wildlife experts will be on board to provide information on the wildlife as well as the geology and history of Catalina Island. The trip will be led by John Olguin, Director Emeritus of the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium, charter member of ACS and "Father of Whale Watching.". This annual whale watching cruise is a particularly great outing for the entire family. Proceeds from the trip benefit the American Cetacean Society, the world's oldest whale conservation organization, and the Point Fermin Cetacean and Community Center. The Around Catalina trip is usually a sell-out, so purchase your tickets
early! We have a lot of people who come every year - for those of you
- please note that we are departing from a different location this year.
We leave from Long Beach instead of San Pedro. We start boarding the
boat at 8:30 at Rainbow Harbor, which is located directly across from
the Aquarium of the Pacific.
