ACS Educational Outreach Programs

---

Educating young and old about the plight of our cetaceans is extremely important and is one of the core missions of the American Cetacean Society.

ACS conducts educational outreach activities both nationally and at the grass roots level, some of which are:

  • We provide free educational materials, which include (but are not limited to) the curriculum and fact sheets on this web site.

  • Our national and chapter representatives attend national and local marine science education conferences, fairs and festivals.

  • Chapters invite scientists to present their findings at the chapter monthly speaker series meetings.

  • National puts on periodic conferences which bring together scientists, students, environmentalists, and interested members of the public.

  • Chapters offer teachers the option of inviting politically neutral speakers for classroom programs so kids can see and touch baleen and other whale artifacts.

  • Chapters conduct land based census programs which involve members of the community in helping to gather data for researchers.

  • Chapters operate naturalist training programs.

  • and more... for more examples of ACS educational outreach efforts, see the ACS/PS educational outreach page.

If you are interested in learning more about the presentations that the American Cetacean Society chapters offers teachers and other organizations, please feel free to contact us, and we can discuss ways to help support your marine education efforts.

These programs are brought to you by the membership dues and donations from our generous members and friends. If you are not an ACS member, please consider joining us. Even if you do not wish to become a member, please consider making a donation - all amounts, large or small, are appreciated.
