OIL SPILL LIABILITY / PROTECTION FROM FURTHER OIL DEVELOPMENT IN COASTAL AND OFFSHORE WATERS / ARCTIC NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE LEGISLATION
The American Cetacean Society supports legislation which:
- strengthens laws regarding oil spill liability;
- protects the coastal and marine environment from oil exploration in biologically sensitive areas;
- restricts further offshore oil lease sales on the Outer Continental Self (OCS);
- prohibits oil exploration / development in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR).
